By engaging in three-month rotations across critical clinical specialties, you will acquire the fundamental clinical competencies and understanding necessary to enter the NHS and progress to band 7.

UHB is among the nation’s major NHS trusts. At the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and Good Hope Hospital, there are available positions. Additionally, Heartlands or Good Hope-based post holders will be granted the opportunity to complete a rotation at Solihull Hospital.

A non-medical prescribing qualification will follow the completion of a clinical diploma or an equivalent RPS Foundation program, which you will be strongly encouraged to pursue. In addition, designated time will be allotted for education and training and official induction training.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required:

  • You will engage in a collaborative effort with our technical team to assess medication reconciliations, optimize patient medications, and validate discharge prescriptions using our state-of-the-art electronic patient record and prescription tool, PICs.
  • As part of a larger clinical team, you will offer an expanded service to the Acute Medical Unit by aiding in the reconciliation of medications at the time of admission and ensuring that patients admitted to UHB receive exceptional care.
  • In addition to aiding in the operation of our primary dispensaries as the Responsible Pharmacist, you will conduct expert screenings of clinic charts encompassing a broad spectrum of specialties. Prospective medical students assigned to Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital (through rotation to Solihull) will be allowed to assess outpatient prescriptions encompassing an extensive array of clinical specialties.
