Our libraries are inclusive of all community members, who visit for a multitude of purposes, such as accessing the internet, seeking employment, enhancing their health and well-being, and gaining knowledge on local and national matters. Additionally, we maintain partnerships with numerous organizations, some of which operate from our facilities while others conduct seminars on-site.

You will be tasked with staffing the customer counter, addressing a variety of inquiries, and ensuring the continuity of our service provision in your role as Library Assistant. Answering the phone, distributing merchandise to customers, processing currency, and organizing files are all examples of routine duties. Additionally, you will be required to provide support for library activities, including weekly events like Storytime and Rhymetimes, as well as summertime children’s events.

The capacity to guide patrons towards the specific information they seek is an essential component of the Library Assistant role. There is no prerequisite for library experience or knowledge; however, thorough training will be provided. Flexibility is an essential quality, as the position may require you to work in various East Sussex libraries. Travel expenses will be reimbursed from your place of residence.
