Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for overseeing institutional, accreditation, and compliance initiatives as the principal technical expert. Constantly up-to-date on the compliance systems and procedures of regulatory and accrediting organizations, such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Collaborates with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), and the Directors of GME to support the sponsoring institution’s oversight responsibilities. This individual reports to the Director of GME. Fosters collaborative relationships with programs to promote ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Before offering recommendations, interpret and evaluate ACGME institutional, common, and specialty program requirements, specialty board requirements, and institutional policies and procedures. Establishes systems and instruments to ensure ongoing accreditation and oversees procedures and results about institutional and program accreditation.
  • Assesses ACGME materials necessary for program and institution accreditation establishes a framework for site visit preparations and works with programs to ensure complete, accurate, and transparent records. Examines program director and coordinator-provided information updates from the various national systems associated with GME (e.g., ACGME, WebAds, FREIDA, etc.). Ensure that the appropriate information is posted by program directors and coordinators.
  • Assists in the formulation of policies and procedures while also supervising their implementation. Provides counsel and/or facilitates the resolution of resident/fellow and program concerns concerning procurement and institutional policy.
  • Acts as the liaison for the training program. Assures that the J-1 Exchange Visitor Sponsorship Programme is governed by federal regulations and that sponsoring institutions and J-1 trainees adhere to such regulations. oversees and coordinates the sponsorship application procedure. Serves as the liaison between the GME and the Legal Department, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and Human Resources to obtain and renew J-1 and immigration-related documents for residents and fellows.
  • Engages in professional development activities to expand one’s knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis, while also disseminating acquired knowledge. Assists incoming program and institutional coordinators with their orientation and raises their awareness of pertinent procedures and prerequisites as a coach or mentor.
