The main duties of the job are:

The doctor’s prior experience will influence his or her amount of responsibility. Typical duties may include:

  • Attending consultative ward rounds and MDT sessions.
  • Ward’s activities include supervising a team of younger doctors, admitting patients directly, referring patients to other departments when necessary, organizing TTAs and discharge reports, and assessing Haematology outliers on other wards.
  • Day unit responsibilities include examining chemotherapy patients before treatment, managing chronic transfusion patients, assisting nursing professionals with triage calls, and evaluating acutely unwell Haematology patients.
  • The list includes techniques such as bone marrow biopsy and intrathecal chemotherapy administration.
  • Outpatient clinic work encompasses the full range of Haematology subspecialties.
  • Working as a member of the ‘first on call’ Haematology middle-grade tier.
  • The postholder will be assigned a clinical/educational supervisor, and the expertise gained can be used to individual development needs and goals. Requirements:

  • To practice, you must have a license from the General Medical Council.
  • Solid comprehension of basic clinical sciences and the ability to apply information to clinical practice.
  • Capable of efficiently managing time and prioritizing clinical needs.
  • Recognize your limitations and know when to seek advice from more experienced colleagues.
  • Recognize the value of working well in interdisciplinary teams.
  • A minimum of 24 months of experience in internal medicine, an ACCS program, or an equivalent (excluding Foundation modules).
  • A minimum of 18 months of experience working for the NHS.
  • Experience as a Haematology registrar, including safe chemotherapy prescriptions.
  • expertise in methods such as bone marrow biopsy and intrathecal chemotherapy.
